Winter conditions exist here at the camp and higher. Barr Trail is impossible to find from just below timberline to the summit.
Do not hike higher than you are willing to hike back down! There is no guarantee the train will be making it to the summit, or that there will be an empty seat. The toll road is rarely open to the summit this time of year. Check out our weather links for current forecasts, and be prepared!

  • BARR TRAIL MOUNTAIN RACE  Sunday, July 13, 2008 - Run to Barr Camp and back down, 12 miles.  The trail is open to public but very busy until 12:00 noon.
  • PIKES PEAK ASCENT/MARATHON  August 16 - 17, 2008 - BARR CAMP IS FULLY BOOKED ON THIS WEEKEND.  Two race days on Barr Trail. The trail is open to the public but very busy.
    Ascent to summit on Saturday, 13.32 miles, runners up through Barr Camp by 10:30 am.
    Round trip up and down on Sunday, 26.2 miles, runners down through Barr Camp by 3:00 pm.
  • PIKES PEAK CHALLENGE Saturday, September 6, 2008 - Organized hike to the summit and open to the public.  Benefits the Brain Injury Association of Colorado
  • AdAmAn  December 30th - BARR CAMP IS FULLY BOOKED ON THIS NIGHT.  New Year's Eve Fireworks from the summit.
  • Pikes Peak International Hill Climb Saturday, July 20, 2008 - Vehicle race on Pikes Peak Highway (Toll Road). This event is NOT on Barr Trail but it is of interest to hikers expecting a ride off the summit.  The highway is closed on race day and there are periodic closures during the weeks leading up to the race.
